Paper Girls Challenge 100th Post Spectacular

Congratulations to The Paper Girls Challenge Blog as they celebrate their 100th posting.  I've been very blessed to have worked with these lovely ladies as both a guest designer and as a continuing designer.  As my children have gotten older, their activities have become much more time consuming.  They are both active in the high school marching band, concert band, church, work (yes - my boy has a job, now), and earning amazing grades.  So, because of all this, my crafting has taken a serious back seat.  I carve out time to craft, but nothing major or what I would consider posting - that explains why its been a while since I’ve posted here.

In celebration of the 100th posting - the theme is Paper Girls/Paper Dolls/Friends and my favorite crafting supply/ideas website is sponsoring us:  Scrapbook Steals!!

With that said, let me explain to you how I came up with my project.  I focused on my very best friend, my husband.  He really encourages me to be so much more than I think I am - to reach higher - to learn more - to be the best wife, mom, teacher, and to express myself creatively.  Then I looked at how my friends have influenced me over the past 15 or so years.  My online friends have shared a multitude of scrapping techniques, card making techniques, their projects and their lives.  I honestly believe that the friends I have, have made a positive impact on my life.  I am very blessed.  I used butterflies on my project to represent my friends

Without ScrapbookSteals.com and the friends I have made through their online community, I would never have found Echo Park, StampinUp!, Kiwi Lane Designs, Prima Marketing Flowers, We R Memory Keepers, October Afternoon, and many other companies.  All of which are contained within this layout.

Please join us in celebrating 100 posts, create something about your friends and then share with us.  Blessings to you, your friends, and your family!

Being Thankful {PGCB}

Each year, I try to get just that much more ahead of the game with my crafting and my thoughts on being thankful.  I try to journal each day and reflect on what I'm thankful for - this year I'm being a bit more successful than other years - whew!  Part of my "to-do-list" included a wall decor piece for November and this frame worked perfectly.  I've repurposed it from other projects and I think that this is going to be a keeper!

I love the "graffiti" art look of the interior message and found this on pinterest - wish I could recall where to give credit! - and then I added a bit of chevron washi tape from WeRMemoryKeepers.  I took a silk flower that was left over from a previous project and added it to bottom corner and then found the cute "fall top 10!" card for a personal touch.

Well - that's it for me today - I hope that you are able to join us at the Paper Girls Challenge Blog and submit your own projects for a chance to win!

Have a scrap-happy day!

You're Juuust Right {Storytime Collection}

Good morning - here I am at We R Memory Keepers as their August Guest Designer - Yup - PINCH ME!!!!

The gals over at WRMK sent me a sample of their Storytime Collection and I'm excited to share with you what I've created:

Here's the full 12" x 12" layout.  I cut down the "Jack" paper to 11" x 11" so that I could distress the edges and then stitch it onto my background.  I don't have a fancy scoring tool so I just use my kraft knife or scissors (carefully!)

Here's a close up for you ... and the cute title "You're Juuust Right"
I cut triangles and then overlapped them to point the way to her sweet smile and then I added a cute arrow paperclip accent piece from Stampin' Up!

 I did a bit of layering both under the photo and on top of the photo.  Here you can see a sweet humming bird hovering above rosettes that I created.  To make the rosettes, I use a 1" circle punch, then cut a spiral into the paper and very carefully roll the paper onto itself and finish it off with glue and adhere with a glue dot.  The banner strips here are from "Frog Prince" and is just delightful!!

The rhinestone trim is from Webster's Pages and is self-adhering - thank goodness!!

 With the leftover product, I made this layout using a sketch from S.W.A.T.
The 12" x 12" paper is Rapunzel from the same collection and you may notice some sparkles, those are Stickles (one of my favorite go-to products).

 But wait, there's more!!
I still had some left-overs and created this cute 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" card out of black card stock, kraft card stock, left over "Frog Prince" and a "My Dear" tag.

That's it!  I do hope that you are itching to get some of this line (or ALL of it!)
Have a terrific, scrappy-happy day!

Celebrate 12!

While we were busy planning my girl's birthday - she came up with some really cool ideas including her cake.  She wanted to have a strawberry cream-filled cake.  She helped to search the internet for the right recipe and then decided to make.it.herself!

She's such a happy kiddo and I love her with all of my heart!

Today's sketch is from Practical Scrappers

Sea Monster

Happy Crafty Monday!

As I was working on this beach layout for the Paper Girls Challenge Blog - I came across my We R Memory Keepers' Sew Easy supplies - this is the very first layout that I've actually used the Sew Easy for a layout.  I typically pull out the sewing machine ... I think I've just been a bit intimidated by the whole get the paper piercings correct on the page and then the time it takes to hand stitch ... anyway - I really love this look!

 A close up of the stitching ...

To Love The Journey: Scenic Route

I'm back at Paper Girls Challenge blog with my second installment as April Guest Designer.  This challenge involves "Travel".

Immediately, I knew which photos I had wanted to scrap for this layout!  Last year, we drove to Jersey Jim's Fire Lookout Tower and spent two nights up in the tower.  Its five stories up and the latrine is five stories down.  A bit of planning must go into your ascent and descent!

While we were at Jersey Jim's, we did a bit of hiking, hiking and more hiking!  It was a truly memorable time with the kids and I look forward to more camping trips with them as the summer approaches.

I used a sketch from Scrapbook.Steals.com - Amber 4

I do hope that you are inspired by the Bev Code's sketch, my interpretation of it and the fun challenge from Paper Girls Challenge blog.

Materials used:  Webster's Pages, StampinUp punch, We R Memory Keepers stamps, Love My Tapes washi, and a map of Colorado
