Challenge #64: Use Two Hoarded Items {Thinking of You}

I really enjoy challenges!  I’m not talking so much about life’s challenges as much as I’m talking about crafty challenges.  Use It Tuesday’s current challenge is to use two hoarded items.  I’M SO IN! There are times when its a bit embarrassing as to how much I have hoarded, stored, collected ... call it what you like - but I have a quite a stash in my crafty closet.
This card was created using an embossed piece of card stock that I have had for far too long and there’s also some totally sweet and who know’s how old Stampin’ Up! Designer Series 6x6 paper.  The only new items on here are the kraft card stock and the wood veneer heart.

Can you believe it - I am a Top 2 Pick!  Thanks girls - appreciate the lovin'

PGCB #34 - A Sketch!

Challenge #34 is to use this sketch:

And here's what I created!  I really went out of my comfort zone as I don't usually mix stripes and polka-dots but I really like how this one turned out.

And - the cool part of this layout/challenge is that it also works perfectly for Use It Tuesday's current Challenge #58:  Bring on the Sunshine!

Materials used:  Mr. Huey's Mists that I've had for well over a year, some Glimmer Mist that is also over a year old.  Sadly, I don't know which line of paper I used that has those cute hexagons on it and I cannot remember where/when I got it!?

Anyway ... lots of goodies from my stash including the black/white twine that I've had for several months.

Best Father Ever

Every Wednesday, the lovely Mrs. Sweet of Sweet Stamp Shop, issues a challenge to use what's in your stash - take a photo - and then create a card.  She also included a fun freebie.  I scrambled quickly to get that card done -

And - this works really well for the Masculine challenge at Use It Tuesday.  While the image is new, the blue card stock, white card stock and kraft card stock are all from my stash.  The blue is the oldest at over a year old.  I get it from my sister's Stampin' Up! catalogue so I usually order more than I'll need for a few months.

If you would like the freebie - just head on over to her blog and she'll hook you up (I have a link on my right side bar ... click away!)

Promotion 2013

Its incredibly hard to believe that 14 years have gone by and my "little" boy is now going into high school.  I say "little" because the boy is 5'9" and is still growing!

To celebrate, the family searched through hundreds of photos looking for some fun, cute, milestone-type photos to help create this collage:

I even cracked open MME's Kraft Fun Day.  I've used two sheets of 12 x 12 paper from it once before, but then put it away for something special.  Here's that something special!

Have a great day!

Happy Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day

Love

Would you like a quick tutorial on how to make these cute flowers?  Perfect, because I wanted to share with you anyway!

Materials:  basket coffee filters (those are new)
mists - Mr. Huey's Custard (from my stash about one year ago)
Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist Santa Baby (from my stash - at least two years ago!)
Adirondack Color Wash Lettuce (from my stash - at least two years ago!)
brads or twine (brads are from my stash - 6 months ago - twine is new!)
Embellishments:  Most are from Webster's pages (last summer)
Cardstock:  Kraft paper - that's new!

* Mist the coffee filters and let them dry about an hour.
* Fold the filters into quarters.
* Cut the edges - I used a couple of punches, "points", or "petals".

* Separate the trimmed filters.
* Restack filters by staggering the layers.

* Pierce a hole in the center for either a brad or twine.

* Gather the petals - pinch, fold, fluff to your desired effect.
* Affix to a project!

Kids Grow Up So Fast

I've had this photo of my son on my desk for almost a year and I'm drawn to it often.  I've wanted to create a layout for this photo for quite some time - but just couldn't find the "right" materials.

Kids DO Grow Up So Fast - as I linger over the photo of this boy with a bubble wand I cannot believe that he will be moving on to high school in a few weeks - less than two months!  He's such a treasure!

The title velum and the secondary "Love" velum are from my stash and have to be from four years ago.  My friends over at Use It Tuesday have a challenge to use stickers.  I used the velum and made them into stickers - clever, huh?

Amber #8 sketch from Scrapbook.Steals.com

Materials used:  Websters' Pages, StampinUp! punches, ribbon and flower brad
Velum from probably four years ago!!

Think Spring!

Happy Scrappy Day to you!

I love making cards - there are times when I just get into a groove and I'm in it right now!  I've been making Easter cards, Birthday cards, Thank You cards and then I saw that Use It Tuesday's challenge is to create something with Spring in mind!  Yahoo!!!!

I used a bunch of markers that I've had for yeaarrrrs and the stickles glittery type stuff has been around since, well - I really don't remember - and the card stock has been in the stash for at least four years.

Enjoy my take on Think Spring!

Cute, Quick, Card

I've been spending the past couple of days working on reorganizing my scrappy stash.  There is quite a bit of it at the moment and I really need to dig in there and use up what I have before the CHA show and all those cute papers, ribbons, embellishments, stamps, inks ... you get the idea!

I wanted to make a fun card that used neon colors - the only thing that I have close to neon is this bright green - so girls - I'm going for it!  I love taking elements of a card and taking it out of the box or off the edges in this case - adds a bit of whimsy to it.

Materials used:
kraft card stock (my newest favorite)
Echo Park:  Summer Days "Quilt"
(hoarded from 2 years ago)
My Little Shoebox:  Destination - 3D roll up flowers
(hoarded from 2 years ago)
Letters:  from who knows where?  No company label on those and I threw away the packing materials.
(hoarded from ? years ago)

Submitted to:  Paper Girls Challenge Blog - Challenge #22 "Neon"
Use It Tuesday - Challenge #46 "2013"
I challenged myself to create more cards to cultivate my relationships with my friends near and far.

Have a great crafty kind of a day!

Jingle All the Way

Good Morning Scrappy Friends!!

We are knee-deep in the holiday season here at the Johnson house ... concerts, concerts, concerts, cookie baking, sporting events, championships, more cookie baking and more concerts.  Does that mean that mama has no time for scrappy-happiness?  NOPE!  I was able to put in a full day of scrapping last weekend and I wanted to share my creation with you:

I used several pieces of "hoarded" paper - I've had some of this for so long that I don't even know what it is anymore
- I think its from Echo Park -
wooden buttons are from last Christmas' stocking and are Martha Stewart's collection,
the twine is from a steal last year on ScrapbookSteals.com, the red "jewels" are from Webster's Pages Warehouse Box that I received over the summer, and finally,
the glittery swirly thingys are from a swap box with my crafty gal pals about a year and a half ago.

Fluffy Ribbon Fall ATC

I'm just loving this ATC that I created for a swap I am coordinating with a bunch of gal pals.  I wanted to create something that was "out of the box" for me and forced me to USE up some of the ribbon I have.

Well - wouldn't you just know it but the gals over at Use It Tuesday issued their latest challenge to use ribbon - SWEET!  I've had this green ribbon for two years.  My daughter and I bought it to make those cute flip flops that are fuzzy and stuff - guess what they were cute but once the ribbon was wet - they were ruined.  Also, I used burlap ribbon that I recently purchased at my LSS - I LOVE IT!

Back to School

I love the fact that both of my kids really love school - and I love that they have great friends who are compassionate and willing to give to others.  I love that my boy surrounds himself with kids who share his love for Christ and are not afraid to walk the walk and talk the talk.  (That's a lotta love!)

Two weeks ago, the kids went back to school to spend time with their friends and to take on new challenges.  Going back to school is not just about getting a new backpack or lunchbox (neither of those were new at our house this year), but rather its about making connections with friends, growing up and trying new things.  I'm very proud of how my kids strive to learn without letting their socializing get in the way - they are adorable.

Anyway - I think that this is a fun challenge from Use It Tuesday - to create from your stash for a back to school layout or other project.  I used some Basic Gray that I've had for some time along with a bunch of odds/ends that I no longer even remember what they are from.  I enjoy the challenges that I've been able to complete with Use It Tuesday - they are such clever girls!

Use It Tuesday: Red/White/Blue

Quite obviously, this challenge is to create something that has Red/White/Blue - I've had a chipboard travel log for probably over year now and thought, hey, this is perfect - I am not supposed to use anything new - just stuff from my stash of supplies.  Feast your eyes on this:

We will be traveling later this summer so I'll have time to finish it with photos and items from our trip.  Also - I just loved the stamps that were in here - Seriously - the bicycle - I didn't even know I had it - nor the camera stamp - sheesh!!!

All About Dad

For  this week's challenge from Use It Tuesday:

It's Dad's turn in the spotlight!  So I needed to  make a project that celebrates Dad.

Hoarded supplies used in this card include:  Simple Stories, Life Documented, Jolee's Boutique Parcel Stickers and Wasabi cardstock from StampinUp!
