Ribbon Card {Cute Card Thursday}

Welcome back!

I'm here to share another card theme for the week:  "Ribbon".  For this card, I dove into my stash of Webster's Pages Designer Trim.  There's also a bit of flair from a gal pal of mine, Stampin' Up! card stock and circle punch.  I used the 1" circle punch to create the petals.

Well ladies, this is my last post for Cute Card Thursday - I have to say that I've enjoyed looking at your creations and sharing my take on the different themes this month.  I really do appreciate the opportunity to work with Deb - she's a peach!

I sure do hope that you found some inspiration this month and enjoy another week of ideas from Cute Card Thursday.

Have a scrap-happy day!

#a walk together {Top Ten Doily}

Happy Tuesday!
Today's project is to use doily on a project - I chose to use a crochet doily and gesso to stamp on my layout.

This is a doily similar to the one that I used

And here's the project with the doily stamped in the background

Totally lovin' the little people and the heart on the "girl".

Materials used:  Webster's Pages paper, crochet doily (from my stash), gesso, Webster's Pages trim

Have a scrap-happy day!

Challenge #64: Use Two Hoarded Items {Thinking of You}

I really enjoy challenges!  I’m not talking so much about life’s challenges as much as I’m talking about crafty challenges.  Use It Tuesday’s current challenge is to use two hoarded items.  I’M SO IN! There are times when its a bit embarrassing as to how much I have hoarded, stored, collected ... call it what you like - but I have a quite a stash in my crafty closet.
This card was created using an embossed piece of card stock that I have had for far too long and there’s also some totally sweet and who know’s how old Stampin’ Up! Designer Series 6x6 paper.  The only new items on here are the kraft card stock and the wood veneer heart.

Drill #16 - S.W.A.T {Sketch and Twin}

Good Morning!

Check out this sketch from S.W.A.T - The ever-talented Bev Code created this sketch for us to use and while I moved the circle and title around a bit, I love the way everything came together.  For this Drill, you will need to use the sketch provided and use a bit of twine.  I used bakery twine on my three banner flags.  Be sure to check out our blog to see what the rest of the Design Team came up with for additional inspiration.

This is how I saw the sketch working for me:

Materials Used:  My Mind's Eye, Musical Thickers, Twine, Flair (made by a friend), Mr. Huey's Mists, Flowers

Have a scrap-happy day!

Fairy Nice (Cute Card Thursday}

Welcome back!

I'm here to share another card theme for the week:  "Fairy Nice".

This time, I tried to stay away from my pink stash and dove into the stickles stash instead.  I love using stickles on cards - really increases the "WOW" factor!  Anyway - when Deb contacted me about this theme - I went to my local scrappbooking store and totally bought this stamp.  I loved the whispy look of the fairy's hair.

Well - hope that you find some inspiration and enjoy another week of ideas from Cute Card Thursday.

 I hope that you enjoy this week's card and I'll see you again next week for my last card of the month.  (I think that my sister might be up as the designer next month!)
Have a scrap-happy day!

My Buddy: Sketch 283 {Nuts About Sketches}

Happy Monday!!

This week’s Nuts About Sketches is all about the 8x10 photo.  I don’t recall ever scrapping a photo of this size and I just jumped at the chance to do something in black and white.  Turning the sketch 90 degrees to the right just clicked for me.

My little girl was home sick from school and I noticed that she and her buddy were sleeping on the couch.  Yup - captured that moment to scrap later!

I used My Mind’s Eye "The Sweetest Thing" and some flair that a friend made for me.

Have a scrappy happy day!

Thank You Card {Practical Scrappers}

This is one of the cutest card sketches I've worked on in a while - being a teacher the sketch really makes me smile!

From Practical Scrappers for September:

My take on the sketch:

I really loved the bright colors surrounding the kraft paper coffee cup and sentiment.  A quick fun card to create for my coffee drinking friends.

Materials:  Stampin' Up! stamp set and card stock

Hip 2B Square {Cute Card Thursday}

Hi Again!!  I'm back at Cute Card Thursday with another theme for this week:  "Hip 2B Square".  I guess I was having a great time with the pinks in my stash - because this card is another pink one!  I used Authentique papers and Stampin' Up! punches and card stock.

I hope that you enjoy this week's card and I'll see you again next week!

Have a scrappy-happy day!

Tucker {S.W.A.T. Drill #15: Stamp, Stitch, Spray}

This is our family dog, Tucker.  We adopted him from a rescue shelter when he was "8 months to two years" old - according to the staff there.  More like 8 months thank you very much!  He's been an amazing addition to our family - he's small enough for both of the kids to walk him yet fierce enough to protect our home from those nasty free-range cats in our neighborhood.

Tucker is a true terrier (we think of his breed as more terror than terrier) because he learns quickly, he loves to play, and he's a crafter.  Yes, I have a dog who can craft.  He will take a roll of toilet paper and do the most amazing crafts with it - all over the house - so bonus! - interior decorator is added to his list of accomplishments.

Drill #15 at S.W.A.T. is to create a card, layout or other project where you Stamp, Stitch (either faux, machine or hand) and use Spray Mists.  I did just that!  I stamped the paw prints all over the layout, hand-stitched through his name to anchor those letters and then I used spray mists to create the blue droplets throughout.  I also added a smear of gesso to help those paw prints and to make it a bit messy - noticed the paper that he did chew up for me while working on this layout?

One last thing - look closely at the photo - there's a sign behind him that says "Stay for the Fun" - this is true!  He's fun and silly and I'm glad that he's ours.
Have a scrappy happy day and don't forget to link up your projects to S.W.A.T. so that we can drool (ahem) all over your creations!

KLD: Sunnybrook Lane Designer Templates {Blog Hop}

Kiwi Lane Designs Blog Hop!

Welcome KLD fans and thank you for joining us all on the blog hop today!  I was so thrilled when I found out that I was going to be using Sunnybrook Lane Designer Templates for my project.  If you have not used KLD Designer Templates, then what are you waiting for?  The templates are so fun to work with - you can layer them onto your pages or cards and decide what to do prior to cutting your beautiful papers.  Here's a video to help you out with the framing technique.

One of the things that I enjoy most about using the templates is that you are not limited to using the entire template in your design.  In the "Tough Girl" layout, I used a portion of the template under the banners both above and below the photo of my girl.

In my "All Boy" layout, I used the templates to split the layout and then I used a portion of the templates to create the bracketed pieces.  As you can see, the Designer Templates are very versatile.  Have fun hopping and I cannot wait to see what you create with the Sunnybrook Lane templates.

Here’s the lineup:
Kiwi Lane
Deborah Johnson   <----- you are here!

ONE random winner will receive wait for it .... a prize package from Simple Stories - they are this month's sponsor here at KLD!!!!  Seriously Simple Stories is one of my favorite manufacturers!  This prize will be awarded to US or Canadian residents only and if there's a winner outside of those areas, then a $25 gift code to the Kiwi Lane Shop will be issued.  All this just for leaving a comment on all of the blogs! The winner will be announced on the Kiwi Lane Blog on Thursday, September 12th.  (That's one winner for the entire blog hop - just in case you were wondering!)

I, too, will be giving away a bit of sweet swag on my blog.  You need to be a follower and you need to leave a comment on this post.  I'll announce the lucky random winner also on Thursday, September 12th.

Pretty In Pink {Cute Card Thursday}

Hi Everyone!  I'm a new guest designer for Cute Card Thursday.  I'm an English Language Arts teacher who fell in love with paper crafting when my kids were little.  My first scrapbook I made with my son while my daughter took her afternoon naps.  Since then,  I've been creating cards, layouts and altered art.

I love to make cards for my friends and family and this one was for a co-worker's birthday.

 Today's theme is "Pretty in Pink"

Hope you have a scrappy-happy day!

Nuts About Sketches Week 281 {Sand In My Toes}

Hello!!  This is my first DT post for Nuts About Sketches - Week 281.  For this week’s layout, I used Simple Stories “Summer” to craft another page {Sand In My Toes} in our vacation album.

For the first time, I’m using transparencies.  I’ve always seen other crafters using them but I just never really know what to do with them - or - how to adhere them.  I cut apart a few words and then placed them on top of the photo.  Beacon’s 3in1 glue worked the best for me.  When I saw this sketch, I just knew that I would be using my Kiwi Lane Designs Templates for the curves on the sides.

The sketch:

The layout:

Have a great day and check back weekly for NAS layouts.
