Use It Tuesday: Red/White/Blue

Quite obviously, this challenge is to create something that has Red/White/Blue - I've had a chipboard travel log for probably over year now and thought, hey, this is perfect - I am not supposed to use anything new - just stuff from my stash of supplies.  Feast your eyes on this:

We will be traveling later this summer so I'll have time to finish it with photos and items from our trip.  Also - I just loved the stamps that were in here - Seriously - the bicycle - I didn't even know I had it - nor the camera stamp - sheesh!!!

Turquoise #9: Dreams

This week I completed two layouts in ONE day!!  Here is the second of the two.

Truth be told - I LOVED the sketch but I just don't have all of the shapes that are in the sketch - so I ... um ... left them out!  Also - I am trying to be VERY good about NOT buying any additional materials and using up my "hoard" of scrappy stuff.  My layout generally follows the sketch and I just love it - these are some of my favorite colors and of course one of my three favorite subjects to journal and photograph.

Turquoise #8: Love

This week I completed two layouts in ONE day!!

This is, of course, a sketch challenge from my gal pals at Scrapbook Steals.com
We've known each other since the first time we met in Chemistry class in college - its been 25 years!!!!

Seriously, isn't this the cutest flower?  I used a StampinUP! punch, cut the petals and then rolled them up a bit.

Turquoise #7

Good Monday Morning To You!!!
Yesterday was the 48th celebration of my dearest's birth - so of course we had cake/ice cream/games/fun and more cake!

There are so many wonderful photos of his special day that I cannot wait to scrap and in the meantime, I did get caught up with a layout of my dearest boy!

I really love how this looks - he's so happy with his tower of lego pieces and those glasses on top of his head?  PRICELESS!!!  Its the look of I have a job to do!

#24:  Earthquake in the Early Morning
#25:  Stage Fright on a Summer Night
#26:  Good Morning, Gorillas

There are 20 titles in our collection and I would be willing to sell them all plus shipping for $40.00 US - otherwise, pick and choose for $3.00 US plus shipping (which would be very nominal).

Paper Girls Challenge #10

Challenge #10 - A Photo Inspiration! from my gal pals ...

The challenge this time around is to use this photo as there are
so many different ways to draw inspiration
to create a layout or card. From the colours, the wavy lines,
the mosaic itself, the flowers, the circles,
the tiles are just some of the many different possibilities.

That's it Challenge #10, is to use this photo in any way
you can imagine to create a project!  So I decided to use the
colors and look at the lines - I intended to create curvy lines -
but the ruffle yellow ribbon and the hilly black will have to do!

Happy 80th!

Yesterday was the official birthday, but today is the celebration!!!  My honey collected several artifacts from 1932 and wanted to create a cool collage - here's what we came up with:

The album is of Louis Armstrong's band and contains the single "All of Me" which was a hit in 1932.

So - how did I come up with this design?  Well - I had to grab all things antique and manly - I used For the Record by Echo Park, Tim Holtz's film strip ribbon, stickers and movie tickets from idea-ology, baby carriage stamp by Stampendous and letters from Authentique.  Kinda an eclectic collection of materials - but that really suits the occasion!

I started out with a similar background and really contemplated using the Authentique paper but it didn't really "work out" in my head.  I clipped out several stickers and tried to place them all around where Louis is on the cover.

I think that this really turned out great and the creative juices were not finished flowing yet!  Also part of 1932 is the movie The Grand Hotel so I created a bookmark/movie pass for it.  Also winning an award that same year is Pearl S. Buck's The Good Earth which won the Pulitzer Prize - another book mark!

Finally, I decorated a beach bucket (seems to be a bit out of place ... ) and it coordinates with the card we found for the birthday boy (celebrate your birthday - wear a bucket on your head - its way more cuter in real life than my description!)

The only thing left to do is shower, gather up all of our supplies for the party (gifts, 10' banner that the kids created and painted and fruit salad) and head on over to the party!

My OWN Sketch

I've been scrappin for quite a while and this week, I created a very cute layout without any help for any other designers!  Yes - my friends, I created MY.OWN.SKETCH!!!  Here it is:

And this is what I created!!

I'm still not certain how to move the shapes around so that they are on an angle - but - hey - I tried!!!

All About Dad

For  this week's challenge from Use It Tuesday:

It's Dad's turn in the spotlight!  So I needed to  make a project that celebrates Dad.

Hoarded supplies used in this card include:  Simple Stories, Life Documented, Jolee's Boutique Parcel Stickers and Wasabi cardstock from StampinUp!

MCM #88

This week's Monday Card Madness is a tribute to We R Memory Keepers as ScrapbookSteals.com is  teaming up with them for their Operation Write Home card drive to show our support of the troops stationed overseas. It’s for a great cause and there are some pretty sweet prizes to be had, so you might just want to check it out!

I decided to do my part in helping We R Memory Keepers reach their goal of collecting 50,000 cards and created the following using the MCM #88 Sketch from, you guessed it, ScrapbookSteals.com

Turquoise #6

I was so excited to see that we had a two-pager for the sketch this week over at ScrapbookSteals.com!  The layout was created by guest sketcher/artist Julie.  I had fun with this one and it come together soooo quickly!

On our 17th wedding anniversary, we took the kids bowling with us and naturally, we had a TON of fun.  The kids are such a wonderful party-goers and completely make me smile!  They also happen to be fairly decent bowlers with or without the bumpers.

Paper Girls Challenge #9 Subway Art

I really have enjoyed participating in the challenges from some of my online gal pals over at The Paper Girls Challenges.  This challenge required the use of Subway Art.  Immediately, I thought of wordle.net which is a very cool place to create "thought clouds" and then you can change the fonts, colors, arrangement, etc of your words.  Anyways ... this is what I created (which happens to be one of my favorites in the past week!):

Just BECAUSE I could

Just BECAUSE I could - I created a really fun card today:

MCM #86

Good afternoon,

Its been hot and windy here - so after no less than FOUR bike rides today - I was able to find a small amount of crafty time today and woo-hoo!  I love this card!!!

I used a variety of materials from Fun Day to MME to Webster's Bloomers to Stampin Up!  And - I really love how this one came together - the colors and the sketch were totally WOW!!

And I have to share the sketch I used from Scrapbook Steals:

MME June Fussy Cutting Challenge

My Mind's Eye June Challenge is to create something - anything!!! using "fussy" cutting.  This is where you cut around intricate designs from MME's paper lines and then use the item as an embellishment in your project.

I love doing fussy cutting - so this was a challenge I really wanted to try.  Here's my entry ...

I used My Mind's Eye 6x6 Pad - Miss Caroline Dolled Up

Turquoise #5

My interpretation of this one!

Another amazing challenge brought to you by the Scrappy Mojo Mama - Kristy:

The Play Date Cafe #134

A rather new discovery for me on the blogging scene is The Play Date Cafe.  They have challenges and of course, I love a challenge!!  (Scrapping challenge that is ... )

Anyway - Here's their challenge:

This week's suggested colors are:

Apricot...Canary...Latte...Rose

And this is what I created ...

There is a Horder Among Us!

Good morning, its Friday and that means I woke up at 3:30 a.m. today to make breakfast for my honey.  Once a week, usually Friday, I get up extra special early to make bacon, eggs, bagels, and coffee (seems the coffee pot is not awake ... its been "brewing" for an hour and it is still not finished!).  This is a special time for both of us as it really honors my honey who is up at 2:45 each and every workday - poor guy!  Anyway, after said honey left for work, I started tromping around through the blogging world and came upon

Here's the challenge ...

Challenge #32: Use Two!

This challenge, please make a project using TWO hoarded supplies!I know, I just felt the air suck out of the room, too.  :)You can do it!!

***REMEMBER: All of our challenges call for you to use your hoarded supplies! A challenge requirement is to tell us in your post what you used!***

I just love it when bloggers are so real (and humorous) - anyway ... I thought, hey I can play along as I have created 5 different layouts this week - one of which was using some of my "hoarded" stash!

So, you ask, what has been hoarded???  The flowers are at least two years old and the red matting cardstock is over a year old.  I think that I have only 75 more of the flowers to use before they are gone ... yes, only.

My name is Deborah, and I am a hoarder.
